Where Fell It?
December 29, 2010

2 Kings 6:6 - "And the man of God said, Where fell it? And he showed him the place.  And he cut down a stick, and cast it in the water, and the iron did swim."

We've all had those experiences in life that we'll never forget. Well, I had one several months ago involving a treadmill.  I was doing my regular workout, but because I was visiting a gym out of town, I had my keys, wallet and other personal items with me in a gym bag.  I placed the gym bag across the front panel so I could keep an eye on it.  Instantly, I heard a voice inside saying, "Big mistake, put it on the floor next to you".  I ignored that voice and left it just where it was.  About 30 minutes later, as I was looking up at the TV above the treadmill, I felt something hit my leg.  My gym bag fell on the belt, tripped me, and I fell flat on my face, chin first.  After I cleaned all the blood off the belt and the floor, I went in the men's room and cleaned up my face, which is where I heard that same voice saying, "I told you not to put it there".

Similarly in 2 Kings 6:6, a man lost his ax head, and the advice the man of God gave him was, "go back to where it fell".  If God has spoken to you about something and you have "lost your way", go back to where He first spoke to you.  He is so good and merciful and patient, that He will simply tell us the same thing again and again until we get back on the path that He has for us.  Another point of concern with this man is that the ax head he lost was borrowed.  God cares about what you owe, He doesn't want you to be "servant to the lender".

As you begin 2011, let's make a decision to ask God, "where fell it?"...what changes need to be made in my life, what areas of my life did I not listen to that still small voice, what can I do different next time?  I believe that a supernatural God is able and willing to make your "iron swim", to bring you "above water".  Simply ask Him, "where fell it?"

Looking forward to an abundantly blessed 2011!
